Sittingbourne manager Gary Abbott is optimistic about the future
08:00, 18 March 2011
Sittingbourne boss Gary Abbott admits he is surprised to find his side back in the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off fight.
The Brickies were written off when they were forced to stop paying their players and staff halfway through the season but despite losing a host of senior players Abbott is enthusiastic about the future with a team built around youngsters.
Abbott (pictured) said: "It feels weird to be right in there again. If we can finish at
least top 10, then I’ll be more than happy."
Bourne sit ninth after a 1-0 victory over Walton Casuals last weekend – their second on the spin after beating Chipstead.
They face a trip to struggling Corinthian Casuals on Saturday before hosting basement boys Horsham YMCA on Saturday week.
