Sittingbourne new-boy Jake Hobbs enjoys winning start
08:00, 12 February 2010
New Sittingbourne signing Jake Hobbs enjoyed a winning debut for the Brickies as they powered to a 4-1 success in the Kent Senior Cup at Bromley on Tuesday.
The former Blackpool reserve team player, signed by Gary Abbott on loan from Welling United, was the only change from the side who had been held to a goalless draw by Horsham YMCA last Saturday.
Bromley also made five changes to the team held 0-0 at Dorchester, but it was Abbott’s policy which paid off as his side swept four goals past their Blue Square South opponents in the second half through Karl Dent (2), Tom Bradbrook (pictured) and top scorer Hicham Akhazzan.
Sittingbourne’s reward is a trip to Tonbridge Angels in the quarter-finals. They visit title chasing Croydon Athletic in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday and go to Whitstable next Tuesday.
