Sittingbourne to host Kent Derby final
14:19, 21 August 2008
This year’s John Smith’s Kent Derby will be held on Sunday at Sittingbourne Greyhound Stadium.
Six dogs will line up for the final with a £5,000 top prize, on a card that also includes the annual running of the WJ and JE Cearns Invitation Stakes.
The Central Park Stadium has attracted some of the best dogs in the country for the Sunday night gala and the 480m Kent Derby final.
Meopham-based trainer Tony Collett has got two dogs through to the final after litter brothers Lenson Earl and Lenson Express both won their qualifying races. Lenson Express is a marginal favourite in the betting at odds of 6/4.
Sittingbourne director Roger Cearns said: “Good luck to connections of all the greyhounds involved.
“It is unusual to have two litter brothers contesting a big final like this so there will be a great atmosphere.”
Doors open at 5pm. The first race takes place at 6pm with the final at 8pm.
For restaurant and booking enquiries, contact the stadium on 01795 475547.
