People living in Upchurch have been warned to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke billowing from a large haystack fire.
Firefighters were called to Holywell Lane at about 11.30am.
They found flames had spread to 13 hay bales, causing a large amount of smoke.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "We are asking people in the Holywell Lane, Upchurch area to keep doors and windows closed due to a fire in the area.
"Drivers should also be aware that there is a large amount of smoke on the road between Upchurch and Lower Halstow."
Two fire engines were sent and the crews have been working with the farmer to create a fire break.
It took an hour to bring the blaze under control.
