Manager of West Street News, Sittingbourne, says spelling error in shop sign is good for business
17:30, 06 June 2015
The manager of a newsagents and off-licence has seen the bright side of a spelling error in his shop sign.
Sticklers for correct English noticed that Sittingbourne’s West Street News had described itself as a off-license, not an off-licence.
But the man who runs the shop, who did not wish to be named, has said it makes people notice the business more as they try to work out why it looks a bit odd.
He said: “People are getting used to it, it’s eye-catching.”
He was also quick point out it was his “sign guy” who made the mistake, with the workman telling him he could not rectify the problem as it would cost more money.
