Swale Youth Action to provide fuller programme of activities for youngsters after receiving cash from the Sport and Physical Activity Grant Scheme
00:01, 04 August 2014
Youngsters can look forward to an energy-packed summer of fun thanks to a generous cash donation.
Swale Youth Action (SYA) has been awarded £266 from the Sport and Physical Activity Grant Scheme.
The £20,000 fund was set up by Swale council after a Sport England survey found 52% of the borough’s population didn’t take part in any physical activity.
SYA, which is for nine to 14-year-olds, started its school holiday programme on Monday at St Edward’s Catholic Primary School in New Road, Sheerness.
Its project leader, Tony Old, received a cheque from Cllr Mike Whiting, cabinet member for localism, at the first Active Swale Networking Breakfast in Sittingbourne.
Mr Old said: “Receiving this grant has enabled us to provide a fuller programme of activities during the summer programme.
