Stanley Moore gets Great Britain junior international powerlifting call-up
09:28, 15 February 2012
Young powerlifter Stanley Moore has been called into the GB junior international squad.
The 15-year-old, from Bredgar, near Sittingbourne, only took up the sport 18 months ago but performed well enough in five different competitions last year to catch the eye of the selectors.
His best result came in the All-England Championships at Northampton in November when Moore, who competes in the over-66kg category, finished runner-up.
He said: "The guy who beat me was 21 and I think that was probably the performance that got me noticed."
Moore, a member of Milton Regis Weightlifting Club, trains three or four times a week at Nobby’s Gym and is preparing for the South East Championships in Woking next month.
