Sittingbourne student's crop for charity harvest
12:42, 07 June 2013
A young fundraiser who usually hasn’t got a hair out of place is going under the razor for charity.
Dean Blake, of Montague Court, Sheerness, is having his head shaved to support Cancer Research UK as he has lost a number of close relatives to the disease.
The 12-year-old is hoping to raise at least £500. The head shave will take place during the first week of the summer holiday from Fulston Manor School in Sittingbourne, where he is a pupil.
Dad Steve said he and his wife Kerry couldn’t believe it when their son told them of his chosen fundraising method.
“He’s typical of his age and can’t have a hair out of place,” Mr Blake said.
Mr Blake is particularly proud because Dean said he wanted to support the charity as he feels if there was a cure or other treatment, maybe his family members would still be here.
