A pensioner has been charged with causing the death of a biker in a crash in Teynham.

Motorcyclist Jeremy Nicholson, 44, died after his red Honda bike was in a smash with a white Scania articulated HGV in September.

Lorry driver Thomas Brooks, of Christchurch Way, Dover, was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with causing death by careless driving.

The 75-year-old has been bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 21.

Police and ambulance staff were called to the crash, outside the Fowler Welch depot on the A2 London Road, at 5.40am on Sunday, September 8.

Mr Nicholson, from the Sittingbourne area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have been investigating since the crash and earlier released an image of a car they wanted to trace as a potential key witness.

Mr Nicholson worked as a stock clerk for DHL, a postal and logistics group.

At the time of his death, a DHL spokesman said: "Our condolences are with his friends and family at this sad time.

"Jeremy was a hard-working, conscientious individual who had been with the company for more than 20 years and will be greatly missed by his colleagues."
