A dog was given oxygen therapy by firefighters after it was rescued from a fire which broke out at a bungalow.
It was one of three canines and a cat which were pulled from the property after a blaze broke out in the roof space of the home in Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne, just before 10.45am today.
The pooches were all taken to Borden Lane Veterinary Surgery to be assessed. It’s not clear what happened to the cat as staff say it is not in their care.
It’s understood no people were trapped inside the building.
Appliances from Sittingbourne, Whitstable and Medway were all called to the scene.
Four crew members wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames. Three hose reels and a hydrant were also used.
By 12pm a salvage operation was started to rescue as many of the householders’ possessions as possible. Crews remained at the scene until just before 2pm, cutting away the flat roof and removing tiles to check and extinguish hot spots.
The roof of the property was severely damaged by fire and the rest of the property by heat and smoke.
The cause is not known.
