There was traffic chaos following an accident on the A249 on Wednesday night.
Police closed the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the dual carriageway at Stockbury roundabout for almost four hours following a collision between a silver Golf and a blue Peugeot.
It happened just after 4.40pm near the Bobbing turn off. As a result motorists found themselves in long tailbacks on the M2 coastbound carriageway due to congestion caused by drivers trying to exit at junction 5.
Once vehicles reached the Stockbury roundabout traffic was diverted via Maidstone Road/Chestnut Street down to the Key Street roundabout.
Drivers on the A249 Detling Hill also experienced delays from the M20 Junction 7 heading towards the M2 Junction 5.
There were no serious injuries reported from the accident. The road reopened at 8.14pm.
