Sittingbourne's Sam Collins is facing a four-game ban after being the victim of mistaken identity.
The young midfielder was sent-off in the 4-0 Ryman League, Division 1 South defeat at Whitehawk on February 5, after referee Ian Crouch showed the wrong player a red card for violent conduct.
Defender Nick Reeves was the culprit and the official admitted the error in his report but a Football Association spokesman said: "We did not receive a submission for a claim of mistaken identity within the appropriate time frame."
Sittingbourne travel to former leaders Leatherhead on Saturday .
"I don’t think I have ever got anything against them," said boss Gary Abbott, pictured.
"They have dropped off a bit themselves but it will still be a tough game.
"We won’t get relegated but I don’t want to see us slide down the table and finish about 20th."
