Woman dies, girl injured in road accident

A WOMAN died and a young girl was seriously injured in a collision with a car as they crossed a road in Sittingbourne (Helen Cockersole writes).
The woman, in her 50s, and the 12-year-old girl, both from Sittingbourne, were crossing Quinton Road by the Meads Estate when they were struck by a silver Vauxhall Zafira shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
Both were taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital in separate ambulances. The woman died later. She has not yet been named.
The girl sustained serious injuries but they are not life-threatening. Her condition has been described as stable.

The G-registration Zafira was being driven by a 36-year-old woman who was treated for shock and minor injuries.
