Woman and baby hit by car on Grovehurst Road, near Sittingbourne

A woman pushing a pram suffered head injuries after being hit by a car when she was crossing a busy road near Sittingbourne.
Emergency services were called to the accident in Grovehurst Road, Kemsley, just before 7pm yesterday.
The victim, who is believed to be in her 20s, and her baby were treated at the scene before both were transferred to Medway Maritime Hospital.
The lady suffered head and back injuries, while her child was unhurt.
The road was cordoned off until 8.30pm.
The incident has renewed calls for better lighting and improved crossing in the Grovehurst Road area.
Swale Conservative cllr James Hunt, who is also chairman of Iwade parish council, said: “The lighting and crssing there has been a concern to the parish council for some time.
“We have raised this with Kent County Council Highways and Highways England.”
