Bola Dawodu is turning into quite a find for Sittingbourne.

The midfielder, a summer signing from Whitstable, has four goals already this season.

He scored his best yet at the weekend, a classy overhead kick in a 2-2 draw at Thamesmead.

Boss Nick Davis said: “That was his fourth goal for us. We knew he’d get goals – I’m delighted with his contribution.

“He’s one of those who gets in the box and has an eye for goal. It’s a huge plus to get goals from midfield.”

Bourne lost their unbeaten record with a 1-0 defeat at Swale rivals Faversham on Tuesday but hope to bounce back on Saturday at home to Davis’ old club, VCD.

They are hoping to have Miles Cornwell and Laurence Ball back from injury, with Davis ready for a selection dilemma.

He said: “Bally and Miles were the biggest names we brought in over the summer so fair play to the boys for doing so well without them.

“The players who have come in have been outstanding for us.

“We’re looking strong. We had three who didn’t make the bench at Thamesmead on Sunday and that was without Bally and Miles.

“If they’re back at the weekend it gives me a little headache but it’s a nice problem to have.”

Sittingbourne go to National League high-fliers Dover in the Kent Senior Cup second round on Tuesday night.
