Sittingbourne’s new stadium shock is still sinking in.

Brickies have learned they are set to have a new ground built for them as part of redevelopment plans at Woodstock Park.

Kent Science Park, who own Woodstock, intend to expand the site with 400 houses over the next 20 years.

But work on a stadium, which would have a 3G pitch, could start as early as next year.

If that’s the case, Brickies would move in for the 2017/18 season.

Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis said: “There’s such a buzz at the club – everyone’s still pinching themselves at the news.

“It’s what Sittingbourne needs and it’s fantastic for the supporters, who have had to put up with a lot of rubbish over the years.

“It’s going to be built for us but by all accounts the committee will have a say in what they want.

“Potentially, it could open in 2017. There’s a lot of water to pass under the bridge but it’s exciting, regardless of who’s in charge by then.”

Proposals for the redevelopment of the Kent Science Park will be on show at Woodstock on Saturday (10am-2pm).
