Matt Wyatt has no idea how Sittingbourne will react when they fly to Guernsey for their next league match.
It’s a step into the unknown for Bourne, who board an 8.30am flight to the Channel Islands on Saturday ahead of a 1pm kick-off.
But joint-manager Wyatt won’t blame the journey should Brickies lose to the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off contenders.
“It’s going to be a new experience for all of us,” he said. “I’ve no idea how it will affect us but I won’t be using the travelling as an excuse if we don’t get a result.
“Some of our players may be petrified of flying for all I know. Others may thrive on it and feel like they’re playing for Manchester United getting the chance to fly out to a game.”
Ollie Gray is unavailable while Steve Okoh is at his brother’s wedding in France. George Crimmen, Joe Taylor and Nick Dunsdon are, however, expected to recover from knocks.
As well as the travelling, Brickies will have to contend with a strong Guernsey team who attract gates of around 1,000.
Wyatt said: “I watched them against Leatherhead and have seen bits on YouTube and they are a good side. They get big crowds there, too, which will add to the experience."
