Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis on his side's remarkable run

13:35, 18 October 2017

Sittingbourne are out to build on their magnificent run of seven straight wins.

Brickies, second in Bostik South, host struggling Chipstead on Saturday and fellow form team Cray on Tuesday night.

It's more than nine hours since Sittingbourne conceded a goal, which pleases boss Nick Davis as much as anything.

He said: “As a former defender, that’s the icing on the cake.

“When you’ve got a defence like that, it gives you so much more of a chance when games are tight.

“Last year we had attacking full-backs who created a lot but that maybe left us open at the back.

“We’ve got more defensive-minded full-backs this season and as long as you’ve got the five or six guys in midfield and up front creating enough, you can sacrifice your full-backs bombing on.

“That’s part of the reason we’ve done so well at the back.”

Back-to-back home games give Sittingbourne the chance to push on.

Davis said: "Chipstead have picked up recently but if we keep doing the right things I always fancy us at home.

"Cray, like ourselves, are flying, but you got to play these teams at some time."
