Sittingbourne joint-manager Danny Ward expects good runs when FA Cup and FA Trophy campaigns begin
09:12, 10 July 2013
Sittingbourne are already targeting knockout success next season following the draws for the early rounds of the FA Cup and FA Trophy.
The Brickies have been handed a Woodstock clash with Kent rivals Whitstable in the FA Trophy preliminary round and another home tie if they make it through.
Meanwhile, the FA Cup preliminary round draw has thrown up a trip to either Chichester City or Chessington & Hook United, with the winners again facing Step 5 opposition in the first qualifying round.
Sittingbourne joint-manager Danny Ward said: “What you hope for is a home tie first of all and then to play teams lower than yourself.
"If we can’t get past Whitstable, we don’t deserve to be in the next round. Whitstable look half-decent but it’s good to get them at home."
There was a goal rush when Bourne started their pre-season campaign with a friendly against the club’s academy side on Saturday. Ryan Golding helped himself to four goals in the 8-0 win, with Joe Taylor netting a hat-trick and Connor Coyne scoring the other.
