Byrne relaxed ahead of Snetterton test
15:46, 12 June 2008
Shane Byrne continues his tilt at the British Superbike Championship in round five at Snetterton this weekend.
Byrne, from Sittingbourne, is the leader of the championship on 190 points with Airwaves Ducati team-mate and fellow Kent rider Leon Camier, from Ashford, in third on 107 points.
The 1.95 mile Snetterton circuit is one of the fastest on the BSB calendar, the speed required on its long straights coupled with few opportunities to overtake makes it a challenging circuit.
However, Byrne is feeling relaxed and confident ahead of the weekend.
“Over the last few weeks I have had a pretty equal balance of training and relaxing," he said.
"My Mum has come out to visit me and Petra, and we have chilled out, but I have also been cycling and down the gym lots so I am feeling pretty good.
"I think Snetterton will be more difficult than the races we have had so far this season.
"However I am confident the Airwaves Ducati team will provide me with the best possible package and I know that I will do the best I possibly can so we will have to wait and see what happens.”
Round five of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship takes place this weekend, with qualifying on Saturday, June 14 followed by two races on Sunday, June 15.
