Clay pigeon shooter Jack Goodhew showing impressive form
14:48, 15 May 2013
Clay pigeon shooter Jack Goodhew looks set for a big future in the sport.
The 13-year-old, left, showed his potential with a mighty 98 out of 100 at Kingsferry Gun Club in Sheerness.
Goodhew, from Lower Halstow, beat far more experienced rivals in the shoot, including England international Johnny Walker.
Dad Nigel said: “He only started shooting in February last year. He’d played football and rugby, but wasn’t really into them.
“He’s from a farming shooting family and when I asked him what he fancied doing instead of football or rugby, he said he was going to have a go at clay pigeon shooting.
“It gets to Monday morning and he can’t wait for Sunday, when he can go shooting again.
“He picked it up quicker than anyone expected.”
Goodhew won representing Kent Colts in the Southern Counties Championship at Bisley in Surrey, a venue Nigel says is the equivalent of a footballer playing at Wembley.
He also finished fifth at the English Open Championships in Dartford.
