Sittingbourne midfielder Hicham Akhazzan celebrates 400 appearances for the club
08:02, 10 February 2016
Hicham Akhazzan wants to finish his career at Sittingbourne after chalking up his 400th appearance.
The winger marked his latest milestone by opening the scoring in Brickies’ 3-2 win over Whyteleafe last week and was made captain for the night by manager Nick Davis.
Akhazzan, who signed from Chatham, celebrates 10 years with the club in November and can’t imagine playing anywhere else.
He said: “It’s been an honour to play so many games for Sittingbourne.
“I enjoy it here - I feel at home. I like the family feel about the club, everyone knows everyone and the fans are great.
“I’m 28 and I’d like to finish my career here. I’ll be here until Nick, or another manager, can’t find a place for me."
Akhazzan scored for the third match running as Brickies won 2-0 at Walton & Hersham last night.
He added to Stefan Wright's first-half opener as Davis' side took a big step towards safety in Ryman League Division 1 South.
Sittingbourne bear no grudges as they prepare to face their former striker Harry Smith.
The 6ft 7in forward asked to leave Brickies just two weeks after signing a contract and was sold to league leaders Folkestone.
He’s bang in form ahead of Sittingbourne’s visit to Cheriton Road on Saturday (3pm), scoring a hat-trick against South Park last weekend.
Brickies boss Davis said: “I’m not one to hold grudges. He went to Folkestone and I wish him all the best. I hope he does well there and pushes on even further."
Sittingbourne face a rearranged game at East Grinstead on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
