An enthralling encounter at Central Park ended all-square as Kent Kings took on the Isle of Wight Warriors on Monday night.

It finished 45-45 as Kings surrendered an eight-point lead over the last six heats against the National League leaders.

The Warriors' fightback meant a first home draw in the league in five years for a Kent side who move up to third in the table with two matches in hand.

Kings felt deflated but there were positives with Jordan Jenkins (8+1) and Alex Spooner (6+1) putting injuries behind them while another jewel in the crown, Jacob Clouting (6+1), put in a stylish ride to win heat two as the hosts fought back from an early deficit.

Kent gained the advantage in heat three with a 5-1 from Jenkins and top scorer Anders Rowe (12+1) but ex-Kings star Ben Morley won the next on his way to an exceptional paid 18.

Kings turned the screw in the middle third, including a 4-2 in heat seven that saw unattached replacement James Laker hold off former America World Cup squad member Scott Campos for third place.

That was followed by a 5-1 maximum for Spooner and Clouting in heat eight but Morley then took charge as the visitors snatched a draw.

Kent were celebrating after winning 46-44 at Plymouth Gladiators on Friday.

A challenging night saw 11 riders fall but Kings showed their resilience with Drew Kemp (10) and skipper Rob Ledwith (9+1) top-scoring, while stand-in debutant Saul Bulley added an important five points.

Kent move on to the National League Four-Team Tournament at Stoke on Saturday and take on Cradley Heathens at Central Park on Monday (6.30pm).
