Many people who have run a marathon will tell you it is one of the hardest things they have done.

But one Sittingbourne woman is planning to run two in just two weeks.

Lucy Russon, a part-time primary school teacher from Bredgar, is set to run the Paris Marathon and the London Marathon next month.

The 36-year-old will be on the start line in the French capital on April 12 and back on home soil for the London race on April 26.

It will be the third time she has run the London Marathon.

She said: “I lost my Dad,
Dennis, to heart failure in 2006.

“He had run the London Marathon three times and every time he would run it for the British Heart Foundation.

“I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to enter – I have done it for the past three years.

“The training is going really well, but it doesn’t mean it is going to go well on the day!

“I am feeling very good at the moment and very positive, but I will still be nervous on the day because anything can happen.

“I run three times a week and I go to the gym once a week and I also go swimming. I am much more prepared that I have ever been before.”

“I feel lucky to be running the London Marathon as it is always over subscribed.”

In 2013, Mrs Russon ran the London Marathon in support of the British Heart Foundation, last year she supported charity Rhino Arc, and this year she is supporting BEARS.

The Essex-based charity equips and trains volunteer doctors and paramedics to help patients who require pre-hospital care.

Mrs Russon hopes to complete the marathons in under four hours and 15 minutes.

She has already raised more than £335.
