08:27, 25 June 2013
Sacked captain David Mason has rejoined Kent Kings speedway team - as coach.
The announcement was made after Kings' 49-44 defeat by Isle of Wight Islanders in the Knockout Cup first round, first leg at Central Park on Monday night.
Mason left under a cloud following his controversial sacking after only two meetings last month.
But team boss John Sampford said: "I am delighted to have David back on board.
"I believe that he will help to get the best out of the younger members which should take the whole team forward."
Mason said: "I am pleased to offer advice to the youngsters.
"It's very tough out there for them at an early stage in their careers and if any help I am able to pass on moves them up the ladder and progresses their careers, then it's worthwhile for all concerned."
Captain Steve Boxall claimed an 18-point maximum against the Isle of Wight and beat Tom Perry to win the high-profile National League Bronze Helmet.
The return leg on the Isle of Wight takes place on July 9.
