Sam Woods hoping to recover from a shoulder injury in time to race for Kent Kings against Scunthorpe Saints
10:41, 17 July 2013
Kent Kings rider Sam Woods is targeting a quick return from a fractured shoulder.
Woods was injured during Kings’ 53-39 National League defeat at Mildenhall Fen Tigers last Sunday.
The 19-year-old was due to attend a fracture clinic on Tuesday but wants to race on Monday when Kings take on Scunthorpe Saints in the Eurolink Cup at Central Park (6.30pm).
He said: “I twisted my arm as I was sliding across the track.
“The paramedics told me it was muscle and ligament damage.
“I went to my local hospital (in Lincolnshire) when I got home, just to see if they could strap it up so I could race the next day. But they sent me for an X-ray and it turned out to be fractured.
“It’s not gone all the way through the bone, so I’m hoping I’ll be OK for Monday.
“It didn’t feel like a break or anything, more like a dead arm. These things happen but I’ll be back.”
