A host of angels descended overnight on a Kent village, where residents woke up to find the heavenly figures attached to fences and gateposts.
People living in High Halden, near Tenterden , say they feel blessed as 500 knitted angels were scattered around the village along with an attached card that read: 'A gift of love. Take me home'.
Mysterious well-wishers secretly placed the angels around the village overnight much to the delight of residents who opened their curtains on a frosty morning to see the scattering of angelic figures.
The ethereal creations were mainly white with feathery wings, but some colourful angels were included in the drop.
Cally Honeysett. 33, who has lived in High Halden for eight years discovered an angel on the tree in her front garden. The mum-of-four, who is married to Matt said: "Finding the angel made our day. It was such a sweet thing to do."
Phil Sweatman said he found an angel in his garden hedge. The marathon-runner for Team Ben Hammond, the charity set up in memory of 15-year-old Ben who died of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2016. said: "I went out for an early morning run and the angels were all over the village from one end to the other. It was such a lovely thing to do and everyone was taken aback by the kindness [shown]".
Ben's mum Sheralyn, who lives in the village, said she will put her angel on Ben's tree at Hookstead Green, which the family decorate in his memory each year.
In another seasonal gesture, High Halden church has begun its annual loaning out of Mary and Joseph statues, which remain in people's homes for a day or two before being passed around to neighbours and ending up back at the church on Christmas Day.
