Brave women are baring all for charity.

A group have agreed to have casts made of their breasts which will be painted to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care.

Project Boob is also promoting the range of paint colours sold by Paint @ No.25 in Tenterden High Street.

Businesses are being invited to sponsor a pair of breasts and there are collection tins in the shop.

The event is being launched at The Woolpack in Tenterden High Street on Thursday, October 29, from 6.30pm. The casts will be on show in the paint shop opposite until January.

Among the models is 24-year-old Becky Taylor, who works for Tenterden marketing firm SalesFriend.

“We wanted an idea to promote the colours sold by Paint @ No.25,” she said. “Someone had a friend who had her breasts cast for charity, so we thought it would be a good idea.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so we are raising money for charity.”

Through word of mouth, 35 women have come forward to have their breasts done.

“We had no shortage of volunteers, in fact we had too many people,” said Becky. “A lot of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer.”

To make the casts, breasts are covered in plaster bandages which set quickly. These are peeled off and painted once hard.

Some women are having it done in their homes while a group of women needing a bit of moral support are taking part in a mass casting at The Woolpack a few days before the launch.

“I was quite nervous when I did it because it is not something you do every day,” said Becky. “But it was fine and does not take too long. It takes about 10 minutes to put the bandages on and as they dry, they start to lift off.”

At the launch night, there will be a raffle, live music and collections for Breast Cancer Care.

After the casts have been shown at Paint @ No.25 the women will get them back – and it is hoped husbands or partners may make donations to keep them.

Paint @ No.25, which is run by Michelle Millard. The business is at 25 High Street, Tenterden, where Michelle, also has Dotty Diva Designs.

Michelle said: “The paint side is a new business for me. I do mix paint for people already. This is just promoting the paint side and expanding it.”

There are Breast Cancer Care collection tins in the shop all this month.

Businesses can sponsor a pair of breasts and have their logo displayed alongside. A suggested minimum amount is £50.
