A crash involving an unmarked police car and another vehicle has closed a road and seen two people injured.
The incident unfolded on the A28 near Tenterden, close to the Fat Ox Pub, at about 12.30pm, causing the road to close.
A police officer and a member of the public were taken to hospital while agencies worked to determine the cause of the accident.
Explaining the A28 has been shut to traffic in both directions, a police spokesman said: “An unmarked police car was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
“Officers are at the scene along with the ambulance service and a police officer and a member of the public have been taken to hospital.
“Neither are believed to have serious injuries.”
It is unclear whether the unmarked silver saloon was involved in a pursuit or on blue lights at the time of the accident, which caused damage to its front.
The road – the main route between Ashford and Tenterden – has been shut since about 1.10pm.
Drivers are advised to seek other routes, while changes have been made to bus services.
The number 12 is terminating at Biddenden, while the number 2 is terminating at Homewood School Grounds. The 2A is unaffected.
Two fire engines were called to the scene, close to Homewood School, and crews helped to assist one person from one of the vehicles.
