Bethersden taxi attack: Girls charged with assault

Two teenage girls have been arrested following an alleged assault on a taxi driver.
The 16-year-olds from the Ashford area are believed to have gone joyriding to Bethersden on Monday, July 10.
Police issued an appeal to identify the duo after a taxi driver reported being attacked while in Standard Lane in the village, with dashcam footage used to track down the pair.
Officers have charged one girl with assault and causing criminal damage to the dashboard camera, while the other has been charged with assault and with the theft of a mobile phone the previous day.
Both girls have been also charged with aggravated vehicle taking, and have been bailed to appear before Folkestone Youth Court on Tuesday, August 1.
