Hit and run motorist hunted
09:55, 23 April 2008
Police are hunting a hit and run motorist who damaged two police cars.
The driver crashed into a parked civilian car, shunting it into the police vehicles as the officers worked nearby in the Tenterden Police Office.
They ran out to stop him but he drove away.
The drama happened at Tenterden High Street at about 10.35pm on Friday.
The car was found abandoned in Recreation Ground Road, Tenterden.
Det Con Darren Brough said: “We understand the driver ran off towards the Waitrose car park.
“A member of the public pointed out the direction the offender was travelling but they did not leave details.
“We would like this person to come forward as they may have more information.”
The cars were not badly damaged. Anyone with information should contact South Kent police on 01303 289180 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
