Firefighters came to the rescue of a horse that was trapped in a water-filled gap.
The mare, named Bell, was partially submerged in the ditch and was winched out by crane when the service's animal rescue unit attended the incident at High Halden, near Tenterden.
Bell, who is 14 hands high (56 inches) is now being looked after by her grateful owners while she recovers from her ordeal.
It is not known how long she had been in the ditch.
