A video of a Kent artist doodling has clocked up an incredible 32 million views across the world.
It shows super-talented Sam Cox, aka Mr Doodle, surrounded by a sea of doodles and effortlessly drawing more on a massive canvas.
Commentators have described the work as “genius” and “cool” as a seated Mr Doodle, from Tenterden, appears to pile images of crazy characters and grinning crocodiles on top of each other, fitting them together without pausing for thought, while shuffling across the paper canvas.
The work that was posted on the not-for-profit art sharing Facebook page Drawing the Soul has attracted 23 thousand comments and earned 327,000 shares.
Sam, 23, was videoed by a passer-by when he was at work in a pop-up shop at Old Street station, London, last week and the video of Sam’s wall-to-wall doodle artwork went viral after it was shared.
The website for his online shop crashed and his email went down when he was inundated with orders and enquiries from fans.
Some commentators are comparing his work to American pop artist and social activist Keith Haring.
The modest ex-Homewood School, Tenterden, pupil said: “I was only offered the shop after someone dropped out at the last minute and I was lucky enough to get it for free as I was sponsored by Appear Here who offer pop-up shops around the world.
“I covered the shop in paper and started doodling, but I had no time to pre-plan what I was drawing, I just drew what I felt like from my imagination. It was live art and I wanted to create stuff so people could see the work happening.”
Sam said that crowds gathered to watch and he had to break off from drawing to take payment for his artwork he also had on sale.
Mr Doodle has been rapidly making his mark in the art world and has also designed a clothing range, including swimming shorts for the brand Boardies that are on sale in Selfridges, London.
Pamela Hallahan wrote on Facebook: “Would love to be able to just think and do like this fella. Not even thinking of what to do next. I’d never have the imagination he had. This is class!"
Mr Doodle who has more than 150,000 doodles to his credit on paper, clothes and even streets says he will keep on doodling until he reaches the one million mark.
