Police chase at Bull Lane, Bethersden, Ashford

A police helicopter was scrambled in the search for a man who reportedly went on the run from the police.

Officers were called to Bull Lane in the village of Bethersden near Ashford this afternoon (Thursday, June 29).

Villagers reported a police presence and vehicles in the area, with a search being conducted door-to-door.

In a statement police spokesman Jordan Bluer said: "We were called at 2.20pm today due to concerns for the welfare of a man in Bethersden, Ashford.

"Officers are currently at the scene and attempting to locate the man. The search is being assisted by a police helicopter."

A police spokesman has now confirmed that the man was found by police at around 6.20 pm yesterday evening and was taken to a safe location.
