Tenterden: Pensioner arrested after approaching teen

Police arrested a pensioner after he was seen be “acting suspiciously” towards a teenage girl with his mobile phone.

Officers were called to the incident at 1.30pm on Monday, June 12 at a bus stop in Tenterden High Street.

They are investigating the incident, and it is believed the 69-year-old man may have been taking pictures of a 16-year-old girl.

A police spokesman said: “The incident occurred at a bus stop in the High Street, where the man is believed to have been talking to a 16-year-old girl, and acting suspiciously while using his mobile phone.”

The man was held by officers on Friday, July 7 and has been released pending further enquiries.
