A sign to a new housing development has been taken down by a safety-conscious member of the public.

The yellow and black direction to Saxon Woods at Hamstreet had been tied to a sign post at the junction of the A28 and Beacon Oak Road, Tenterden.

But after some motorists complained that it blocked their vision coming out of Beacon Oak Road, it was removed by a member of the public.

The homes at Saxon Woods are being built by Redrow.

A spokesman for the company said: “We did not directly receive any complaints from local residents in relation to signage for our Saxon Woods development.

“Had we done so we would have removed the sign immediately.

“We appreciate this being brought to our attention and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
