An electric heater left too close to a cupboard caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
Ashford firefighters were called to a property at a farm in Redbrook Street, in Woodchurch at around 5.30am.
An electric heater in the kitchen of the house had caught alight, and the fire had spread to a nearby cupboard.
The fire was out on their arrival and they checked to make sure the scene was safe.
Watch manager Clive Douglas said: "We would just like to remind people using heaters to keep them a safe distance away from other furniture, and to keep an eye on them.
"Also, this fire did set off the fire alarm, which just reiterates the importance of having a working smoke alarm."
