A primary school in Tenterden has launched a Walking Bus initiative to encourage more pupils to walk to school.
Once a week, parent volunteers walk the route to Tenterden Primary Federation collecting pupils at designated “Walking Bus Stops” along the way.
The scheme is administered by KM Charity Team and the routes are assessed and approved by KCC.
A 'bus' stop sign has already been put up at the allotments nearby but the school is hoping to soon add more along the route.
Oliver Radcliff in Year 2, and Elias Scott in Year 5 won a competition to design a logo for their new 'bus' service.
Runner up logos will be made into badges for the children to wear.
A spokesperson from the school said: "We are excited to launch our walking bus in collaboration with the KM Charity Team and KCC, both of whom have supported us on our journey so far.
"Huge thanks to Mrs Sault, our family liaison manager, who first initiated this idea and is passionate about the wellbeing of our children.
"This couldn't have happened without our dedicated parent volunteers who have worked closely with Mrs Sault, planning and walking routes, finalising paperwork, advertising the Walking Bus, setting up the logo competition and of course, being our walking bus buddies.
"Finally a thank you to our families who we are sure will embrace this initiative, enabling their children to walk to school in the walking bus which, along with promoting wellbeing and fitness will have a positive impact on our climate."
