A pupil at Tenterden’s Homewood School could be at the start of a modelling career.
Rosie Page, 17, has won her way through to the final of Miss Teen Great Britain.
She will be competing against other girls from across the country in Blackpool on Sunday, August 31.
Rosie is doing A-levels in world development, geography and sociology and wants to go to Sussex University to read geography.
Her mother, Helen Page, of The Street, Wittersham, said that she found out about the competition on the internet.
“Last year, she went to Tanzania with Homewood on a World Challenge trip doing trekking and helping with a school,” said Mrs Page.
"She really enjoyed it and loves new challenges, so decided to go for Miss Teen Great Britain.”
Prizes for the winner include £1,000, jewellery, clothes, make-up, a photoshoot for a modelling portfolio and an introduction to a top teen modelling and casting agency.
Rosie had to fill out a form online, saying what her academic achievements were, and submit some pictures.
“It is not just a contest on looks but your aspirations and achievements come into it as well,” said Mrs Page.
“She was chosen for the final from a lot of other girls and is the only one from Kent, so is representing the county.”
Part of the contest brief is charity work.
Rosie works at weekends and holidays at Boots in Ashford town centre where she ran a raffle and lucky dip for Boots products in aid of Claire House Children’s Hospice and the premature baby charity Bliss.
The hospice, which provides respite care for children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, is supported by Miss Teen Great Britain.
