Highways teams have removed a new speed limit sign wrongly installed on a road in Tenterden.
The new 40 mph speed limit sign was attached to a street light on the A28 Ashford Road in St Michaels near to the fire station.
Tenterden town councillor Sue Ferguson said that the incorrect signage was noticed by a resident last night.
The My Tenterden town tweet said: "Brand new 40mph speed sign in Tenterden by the Fire Station, St Michaels ... BUT @KentHighways the speed limit here is 30 not 40"
Kent Highways responded saying: "This has now been removed by one of our Highways Stewards and the Street lighting team have been informed."
The sign was removed this afternoon.
Tenterden town councillor Sue Ferguson, said: "I’m very impressed at the fast response from Kent Highways. As soon as they knew about the problem the Highways steward was sent out to remove the sign."
