Blessed with warm autumn sunshine thousands descended on Tenterden for the town’s Folk Festival at the weekend.

Performers from Belgium, France and as far north as Yorkshire came down and visitors from Liverpool and even Lincolnshire were among the estimated 4,000 people who visited during the four-day festival, which ran from last Thursday to Sunday.

Last year’s procession was washed out when torrential rain hit, but there were no such problems on Saturday when hundreds packed the High Street several rows deep to watch the traditional parade of morris men and women, dancers, drummers and musicians make their way through the town centre from the War Memorial to the recreation ground.

More than 30 morris and dance sides were in the procession and more than 40 performers took part across different sites over the festival weekend.

Alan Castle, the festival’s director, said: “It was a marvellous weekend. The weather was really kind to us.

“All the pubs had a good weekend and the procession went extremely well."
