Car crashes into Tenterden Town Hall

A car abandoned after smashing into the side of a town hall was collected the next morning and now police are trying the find the owner.

Officers were called at 7.47pm on Saturday to a report that a car had collided with the building in High Street, Tenterden.

The incident is reported to have happened at about 5.15pm.

Witnesses reported that the car had been seemingly abandoned and was still at the scene at 11pm last night, but had gone by 9am this morning.

A police spokesman said: "The owner of the building was informed of the damage.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate the owner of the vehicle."

Photos of the incident were uploaded to the Facebook page for Tenterden, Kent - The Jewel of the Weald, with the caption "Spot of building work needed at the Town Hall after yesterday's mishap with a car".

The Town Hall has been contacted for comment.
