Tragedy as car crashes into tree

A MAN suffered fatal injuries when a car left the road and careered into a tree.
The tragedy, involving a silver Jaguar XJ8, happened on Tuesday in Cranbrook Road at Tenterden. Three of the four occupants in the car were trapped for a period.
The driver, a Northiam man believed to be in his 60s, was released by Kent Fire and Rescue Service and taken to William Harvey Hospital by air ambulance but died shortly after arrival.
The other three occupants of the car, his wife, and a man and woman from Wales did not sustain serious injury.
The road was blocked by the incident and diversions were set up.
