Whale-shaped spud found at The Potato Shop in Smallhythe Road, Tenterden

12:00, 14 August 2015

Potato sorters had a surprise when they fished out a whale-shaped spud from a crop.

The specimen emerged as staff at The Potato Shop in Tenterden were sorting the spuds as storms lashed the town.

It was closely followed by another resembling a creature from the deep - an Arran Victory potato that staff thought resembled an octopus.

Nicki Crawley, manager of the shop in Smallhythe Road, said: "We just thought it was funny because it was raining so hard when we were picking and packing the potatoes and we found some that looked liked underwater creatures."

And it's not the first time a vegetable has provoked a few giggles. Check out this crop.
