Thanet's KM Dad of the Year is Dave Stanley, who is now in the running to be crowned Kent Super Dad 2009.
The 31-year-old devoted father to Jack, 5, and Ben, 3, went from being a working parent to disabled two years ago.
Although his pain and tiredness never goes away, nothing comes between Dave and his two boys, for whom he lives every minute.
The proud dad can usually be found at toddler clubs or the school gates and, no matter what his personal pain, he makes Jack and Ben smile.
His wife Vicki, who nominated Dave for the prize, said: "He's amazing and an inspiration to all who know him. He's the best dad I could hope for for our two special boys and we love him very much."
Dave is one of eight dads hoping to be named this year's Kent Super Dad - a prize which includes a Virgin hot air balloon flight for two and a chance to present the kmfm Saturday Show.
The Dad of the Year competition is run in association with Kent Children's and Family Information Service - a freephone helpline offering free, impartial information and advice about childcare, early education, parenting and family life for young people up to the age of 20.
