A man has been arrested on suspicion of sending a threatening online message to a Kent MP.
The offensive material was allegedly posted on Thanet South MP Craig Mackinlay's Facebook page at the weekend.
The message, which is said to have included an emoticon of a knife and a gun, was reported to police yesterday.
Yesterday, officers confirmed a man had been taken into custody.
A spokesman said: "Officers investigating a report of threatening or offensive communications made on a social media post dated 18 June 2016 have made an arrest.
"A 28-year-old man from the Thanet area was arrested on 22 June as part of the investigation."
He was released on bail today until Sunday, while the investigation continues.
