The assault took place yesterday morning outside Ian's Plaice, formerly known as Ernie's Plaice, at Thanet Way in Whitstable.

A man, believed to be a chef at the fish and chip shop, was taken to hospital after reports he had a substance thrown at him.

It is believed that the victim and suspects know each other.

Both suspects have been released on bail until Friday, August 25.
