A popular show hosted by broadcasting legend Tony Blackburn has been cancelled at the last minute.
BBC Radio 2’s Sounds of the 60s was set to be held at Margate Winter Gardens this evening.
However, the venue cancelled the hugely-popular show hours before it was due to start because of a maintenance issue, according to a message sent to those who bought tickets.
A statement from Margate Winter Gardens said: "It is with great regret that due to a maintenance issue at the venue, Sounds of the 60s Live with Tony Blackburn will not be able to go ahead as scheduled.
"Margate Winter Gardens sincerely apologise for the late notice and appreciate your understanding at this time. We request that you keep hold of your tickets as a new date will be advised soon."
The kmfm DJ tweeted the statement and commented: "Rather sad news for this evening's show. I was just about to set out to go to Margate then we had a message from the theatre, and here it is.
"We are all so sorry about this but we will get to Margate. As soon as we know the new date we will let you know. We are so disappointed."
Mr Blackburn sent out a further apology, which said: "Thanks for everyone’s understanding about our show not going ahead this evening due to a problem at the theatre.
"I’m aware that so many of you have travelled a long way and booked hotels overnight. We are so sorry about this another date will be announced soon."
BBC Radio 2’s Sounds of the 60s live show in theatres features songs, stories and memories from the golden decade of pop, with music performed live by the Sounds Of The 60s All-Star Band and Singers.
