Bogus window cleaners targeting homes in Margate and Cliftonville

Residents in Margate and Cliftonville are being warned by police to be aware of bogus window cleaners targeting homes in the area.

The bogus cleaners are allegedly washing windows without consent from residents and then demanding payment.

They have reportedly become verbally intimidating when told their services are not necessary.

Police Sergeant James Ross of the Thanet Community Safety Unit said: "Any reputable company would always give you a quote before work is completed.

"If anyone completes work without prior consent and then demands payment alert us by calling 101.

"Public awareness can significantly weaken any scam, so please spread the word and inform your friends and family."
