Several people were evacuated from their homes after bomb disposal teams were scrambled to an address where cannabis was found earlier this week.
Police found a suspicious package at the address in Canterbury Road in Westgate at about 4.15pm.
They have been searching the house for two days after arresting a 51-year-old man on Tuesday following the discovery of a number of cannabis plants.
The package is understood to have been found within the property.
It was deemed unsuspicious and the cordon was stood down at around 7.20pm.
All roads have now reopened after the A28 Canterbury Road was closed in both directions between Minster Road and Orchard Road.
Around seven officers were seen outside the house with one policeman carrying out a gloved search of the premises.
The 51-year-old man from Westgate who was arrested following the discovery has since been released on bail.
He is due to appear before magistrates on Wednesday, September 5.
